I thought I could leave danger behind.

I couldn’t.

I thought I did the right thing, betraying one man for another.

I didn’t.

I thought I knew what I wanted.

I was wrong.

Now I’m desperate to fix my mistakes before it’s too late and I lose the one thing, the one person, that truly matters to me.

Speak Low Speak Easy Book 2 edition by Melanie Harlow Literature Fiction eBooks

Tiny O'Mara was successful in saving her father and herself from the DiFiore family.
Unfortunately, the dust hasn't quite settled for her just yet. Her father is still mixed up with the DiFiore family after coming to an agreement. Joey is in a predicament after stealing Enzo's drugs. And oh yeah, Tiny's now very confused after a mind-blowing kiss from Joey.

At twenty-years old and after everything she's been through, Tiny's ready to build her own life away from her family. She's ready to be independent and live on her own. That, she's absolutely sure of.
How she's going to do it? No clue.
The most demanding dilemma she has is deciding if she wants to continue being Enzo's lover or explore her new-found feelings for Joey.

There wasn't as much action in Speak Low as there was in book 1, Speak Easy. But wait a minute! That doesn't mean it didn't.. satisfy.. in other areas. ;)
Melanie Harlow really outdid herself with the sexy time scenes in this book. But I'm sure it was quite easy seeing as how much of a connection and chemistry the two characters involved have.

If you thought Speak Easy was filled with hot scenes, you're in for a yummy treat in Speak Low.

Enzo is not a main focus in this novel like he was in the first book. I know there are a lot of ladies who love him. I'm not saying he wasn't hot, but I was Team Joey from the start so automatically I turn my cheek at his presence. He's just not a good person. I don't care how mysterious and sexy and powerful and.... what was I saying?

Joey Lupo!!! Now we're talking!
My love. My sinful gangster. My knight in shining armor. Oh wait, I'm supposed to be writing a review not exposing my Joey fantasies..
We experience a lot more Joey. There are moments where we're shown his vulnerability, and I loved getting to know more about him. He opens up a little more, and we also get to see his family in all their Italian glory.

The chemistry between Joey and Tiny was out of this world. In Speak Easy, we see them interact a lot and get a sense of their relationship. But in Speak Low, it's on a whole other level. Even when they argued, their banter was entertaining.

Tiny continues to show her bravery and strength, and stubbornness at times throughout this novel. There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity, and Tiny does well of not getting too close to the latter.
She is such a powerful little thing that she clearly stands out as one of my favorite book heroines.

This is a book I will constantly recommend to people. It's effortlessly written to capture the reader and make them forget that the book their reading isn't real life. I've always shied away from historical romance novels, because they sort of make me feel uncomfortable with their high-quality cheese factor. Mostly, for me they can seem overly dramatic, thus not allowing me to connect. With Speak Low, there are so many relatable aspects that connecting with the characters is so easy.

Speak Low Speak Easy Book 2 edition by Melanie Harlow Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I absolutely loved it! It was fun, romantic and the historical aspect gave it a unique take. Read this book!
I absolutely loved this book (and series) 10minutes in and I was absolutely hooked. It was easy to become enthralled in the world Melanie Harlow created
This book was a good read & ending to a 1923 young love story. I would recommend to anyone who read Speak Easy (book #1). Definitely, makes you fall in love with the love ;) 4 stars for the story, thought the ending was rushed. Overall, worth reading!
I'm torn. I won't spoil the end, but I did not expect what happened. I kind of wanted the story to go differently, but this was acceptable enough. My mind just had a different idea about what would happen with Tiny and Enzo.
I totally enjoy Harlow’s style. She is a good author. I read Speak Easy and looked forward to reading this one. Just as good. I’m not into love stories although this is a mystery with both, but she is good. I will read other stories by her. She has a feel and can express it.
Oh. My. God.

I thought there was NO WAY Harlow could write scenes hotter than she did in Speak Easy. I WAS WRONG!

I want to roll around on her words. Her characters are gorgeously written, the emotions run high, and everything is lush and vivid. I can't recommend these books enough.

I'm trying not to have spoilers, but I was Team Enzo. Now I'm Team Joey.

Who am I kidding, I'm Team HARLOW. READ THIS SERIES!
Continuing from where Speak Easy left off, long time friend Joey Lupo kisses Tiny O'Mara. Was it out of jealousy, knowing fair well that she had been with Enzo DiFiore, son of the mobster that had kidnapped her father. The Depression and prohibition changed our country forever, some say it was the birth of organized crime here in the states, some say bootlegging helped to bring us out of the Depression. Both of these factors played a strong role in molding Tiny O'Mara as the strong woman she is turning out to be.

Tiny has put her family, the store, and the bootlegging before herself for so many years. She finally has decided that she was done. Convincing her father that it was time to move out on her own was not going to be easy, but nothing comes easy any more for her.

Both Enzo and Joey had done what they could to help free Tiny's father from Enzo's mobster father. Enzo now offered her the world, steamy sex, lavish gifts topped off with and a key to her own apartment. This also meant turning a blind eye to his family business and to the other woman that would soon be Enzo's wife.

Joey couldn't offer her life on a silver platter, she wasn't even sure she wanted anything from him. But their lifelong obsession of getting on each others nerves was now becoming a different kind of obsession.

The author once again does a great job of being pure to the time period. And once again makes you feel as if you are Tiny faced with these decisions. Would you choose Enzo's offer of a lavish apartment with money and lust but to have this, she will always be the mistress sharing him with a wife. On the other hand, Joey, a little crazy, not so rich in money but full of passion for life, a life he wants to share with Tiny. Great reading!!
