Petty Gods
Am I one of the only people who is sick of people perscribing human emotions to a being that could be beyond space and time?
'It'll make God angry!'
What? Does your God cry too? Does he get upset when someone disagrees with Him (generic use of describing God, I think it's stupid to say God swings either way in regards to gender)? Sorry, but I just think it is really immature and childish to think of God as a human, or an old man in the sky.
I think anyone who thinks God is as petty as humans are hasn't really thought of what God is properly, and if you are sure that God is male or female. Do you think God has a celestial cock? Do you really think that God, the creator of all things in this universe, is going to need genitalia?
Here's a question for you (credit to Peter Vardy), do you think God can create something that is too heavy for Him to lift? Whichever way you answer you've limited God's power.
Also, can we please drop the whole issue of the Muhammed drawings now? Get over it. Unless Allah is a little child, I'm sure He can cope with a little humour. I'm sure He's not going to cry and abandon all hope of saving humanity from their sins. Unless of course you think that Allah is weak and you need to protect Him on His behalf? If Muhammed is as great as Muslims say he is, I doubt a caricature will upset him. 'Comedy is a funny way of taking life seriously'.
All these little (.....) things are just further fuelling my hatred for religion. I think it is a very stupid concept and cannot understand how people can base their life around it. Personal faith in God is fine, that I like, because it shows you can think for yourself, but just following what other people have told you to because it's what a God they have told you about would want you to is just....rubbish. Think for yourself. Find your own path to God. Don't jump in the footprints of others, make your own. Other people cannot tell you how to understand or find God. Only you can do that.
As a side note, I'd like to address any atheists who haven't already figured this out for themselves; it's just as illogical to assume a God doesn't exist as it is to assume a God does exist. You have no high ground, so kindly step down and lower your nose.
